The December issue: A perfect example of why I love what I do.
As the copy editor of Little Rock Soirée, it is my personal goal to not only fulfill my passion for editing, but to also highlight non-profits and ensure that the messages of local businesses are reaching their audiences loud and clear.
The December issue does just that, with a special focus on supporting sick and abused children. The feature that truly left an impression on my heart was "Little Rock Big Hero."
Big Hero Millie Stone is a volunteer and board member at Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch, providing a healthy home environment for abused and neglected children to help each child learn to trust others, cope with their emotions, learn responsibility, and build self-confidence.
What struck me about the Ranch was exactly what many “don’t realize,” according to Stone: “[T]he Ranch is a real working ranch, complete with horses and cattle that must be tended to. The children who stay at the Ranch are known as 'Ranchers' and are raising this herd themselves.”
